Why Give

United Mission to Nepal Hospitals Endowment Trust Why Give

Why give to United Mission to Nepal Hospitals’ Endowment Trust ?

The United Mission to Nepal, an international and interdenominational Christian mission, working in Nepal since 1954, has founded four hospitals, targeting the most impoverished communities within their reach.

Patients are subsidised to a greater or lesser degree depending on individual ability to pay, but fees in such an impoverished situation can never hope to cover the total cost. It is crucial to maintain the ability to subsidise the care of the poorest patients.

The United Mission to Nepal Hospitals’ Endowment Trust has a capital fund that is wisely invested to provide a good return. The interest earned is paid annually to the hospitals, allowing the hospital management teams to be confident in the ‘free care’ element of their budgets, specifically supporting poorer patients.

However in the current financial climate of low interest rates on our investments, and yet high costs for our hospitals in Nepal, the need to encourage donations and gifts remain essential in order to maintain a healthy capital base.
